 | Spider Flower Seeds ( Cleome hasslerana ). The annual Spider Flower has been traditionally associated with the restored flower gardens at Monticello. Its showy pink flowers, large multi-lobed leaves, and strong growth habit (to five or six feet) make it a handsome addition to the annual flower border. The Spider Flower grows best in full sun during the warm summer months. The seeds may be sowed in spring as the weather warms and thinned so the young plants are three to four feet apart.
